3-Day Private Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda

Overview

This itinerary is your starting point. Every detail — pace, lodge choice, add-on days — is built around you. All in Africa Safaris USA (Utah) handles your booking and payment in US dollars, while our partner team, All in Africa Safaris (U) Ltd in Kampala, handles your permit, guide, and vehicle on the ground. Your journey is private; the wildlife encounter is shared.

This 3-day gorilla trekking safari is the simplest way to see mountain gorillas in Uganda: a short, private trip built around one trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, in southwestern Uganda near the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Gorilla trekking is Bwindi's main draw, and permit revenue funds the Uganda Wildlife Authority's conservation work. Every tracker needs a permit — we handle that for you as part of planning your trip, at no separate booking fee.

Habituated gorilla families are used to human visitors, but numbers stay tightly controlled to protect them: only 8 people track each family, for one hour. Permits are limited and often book out 6 to 10 months ahead in peak season (June to September, December to February), so we recommend locking in your dates early once you're ready to plan.
Strict rules keep the gorillas safe from human disease: a minimum viewing distance, no trekking if you're feeling unwell, and a one-hour limit per visit. We'll walk you through all of it before your trek.

Your 3-Day Private Gorilla Trekking Itinerary

This trip runs 2 nights, 3 days, and includes your gorilla trekking permit and trek, a Batwa community visit, a stop at the Equator crossing, and private transport throughout. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was gazetted in 1991 and is home to more than half of the world's roughly 1,063 remaining mountain gorillas — the largest single population anywhere. This itinerary starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe, and we can extend it into a longer Uganda trip or connect it to Rwanda or Kenya if you want to see more.
