What is the gorilla permit?

A gorilla permit is a document or card issued by the Rwanda Development Board or the Uganda Wildlife Authority that allows any traveler over the age of 15 to trek mountain gorillas in any of Uganda’s three habitats: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks, and Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

A gorilla ticket only permits you to watch gorillas for one hour, but the journey itself can take as little as 30 minutes or as long as nine hours while hunting for gorillas in the bush. How do I get a gorilla permit?
