7-Day Private Uganda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Safari
Overview
This itinerary is your starting point. Every detail — pace, lodge choice, add-on days — is built around you. All in Africa Safaris USA (Utah) handles your booking and payment in US dollars, while our partner team, All in Africa Safaris (U) Ltd in Kampala, handles your permits, guide, and vehicle on the ground. Your journey is private; the wildlife encounter is shared.
Uganda pairs two of Africa's great primate experiences in one trip: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park, home to more than 1,500 chimpanzees. Add wildlife-rich Queen Elizabeth National Park in between, and this 7-day private itinerary covers Uganda's best primate and wildlife destinations without feeling rushed.
Gorillas and Chimpanzee safaris and where they are conducted.
This private safari gives you both primate treks: chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, and gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with Queen Elizabeth National Park's wildlife in between.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park sits in southwestern Uganda, in the Kanungu, Kisoro, and Kabale districts. It's home to over 18 habituated gorilla families, tracked across four sectors: Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south, Ruhija in the east, and Buhoma in the north. Your guide handles your permit and sector assignment. Bwindi is also excellent for birding, and we can add a Batwa community visit to your itinerary.

Kibale Forest National Park is Uganda's chimpanzee capital, with over 1,500 chimpanzees and 13 primate species, including the Ugandan red colobus and L'Hoest's monkey. Your trek there is a guided forest walk, not a group tour — just your party and your ranger guide. Queen Elizabeth National Park adds classic African wildlife between your two primate treks: elephants, buffalo, and the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, plus a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Chimpanzee tracking groups are capped at a small number of visitors per family, and permits are available year-round, though early booking is smart in peak season (June to September, December to February).
All about the 7 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee safari.
This 7-day itinerary takes you from Kibale's chimpanzee forest to Queen Elizabeth's open savanna, then on to Bwindi for gorilla trekking — Uganda's three signature wildlife experiences, in one private trip, with your own guide and vehicle throughout.
